Description

A traditional Moroccan pastry filled with spiced chicken and almonds wrapped in delicate warqa (or phyllo) dough and dusted with powdered sugar and cinnamon.

  1. Simmer chicken thighs with onions saffron ginger cinnamon and 1 cup of water for 45 minutes until very tender. Remove chicken shred meat and discard bones..

Note

Bastilla can be assembled a day ahead and refrigerated before baking. Warqa dough is traditional but phyllo makes an excellent substitute.
